Virtual reality attracts a unique mix of gamers, tech enthusiasts, and visionaries—each with a compelling story to tell. We want to know what makes them tick, so we’re featuring top players within the Raw Data community in a series of interviews here on Survios.com.

For today’s VIP Spotlight, we reached out to TimDotTV for his thoughts on VR gaming.

What convinced you to become a VR early adopter?
I first started learning about the VR space when the Kickstarter launched for the Oculus Rift and I became fascinated with the technology. I didn’t have the money on hand to support them at the time, but eventually multiple years later I was able to try a Vive headset at my local mall. I had already pre-ordered the headset because of my near-obsession with VR in general, but after actually using it and experiencing what it was like for the first time I knew that it was the future.

What has been your favorite Raw Data moment so far?
My favorite Raw Data moment so far was when I was playing the game in co-op and things were starting to get pretty intense. I blew the bottom half of a robot off and thought they were done for, but boy was I wrong. After completely forgetting about it the robot eventually crawled across the room and leaped directly at my face. This scared me quite a bit more than I’d like to admit, but it was definitely hilarious.

What other VR games have impressed you?
I’ve been having loads of fun playing through Arizona Sunshine lately, but one title that’s really stood out to me recently was the new SUPERHOT game for the Oculus Touch. I also need to give a shoutout to Accounting because I absolutely loved experiencing that story and worlds they created.

Which of your all-time favorite games would you most like to see remade in VR?
My ultimate dream would be to have a VR recreation of a Grand Theft Auto game, but I guess that’s pretty much asking for a mini-world at that point. It would also definitely be amazing to play any of the Civilization titles in VR, and be able to move my units around the map and such.

What brand new concept would you love to see in VR that hasn’t happened yet?
One concept I haven’t seen utilized in VR is a virtual storefront system for retailers! I’ve always thought it would be super interesting to shop online, except actually be able to see the objects you’re purchasing, and observe them in much more detail than pictures could provide. I would also love to see some sort of VR filmmaking suite or 3D animation software because there are a lot of new avenues VR has opened for creativity in those fields. I could honestly go on for ages so I’ll save you the trouble, there’s so much room to grow with this medium and I can’t wait to see where it takes us!
