Survios currently has an opening for a talented Senior Level Designer to join our amazing design team!

Applicants should be enthusiastic about the opportunity to drive the development of their level by collaborating with developers across various disciplines, working in-engine and participating in creative and technical problem solving. Candidates are expected to be self-motivated and proactive in helping the team identify and address risks and opportunities during level development while also contributing to a transparent, inclusive and pragmatic team work ethic. 

The Senior Level Designer creates and improves game levels and worlds to ensure optimum playability. He/She participates in the development of Level Design tools and pipeline.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive feature development on all aspects of a Level.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Level Designer and follow-up on prototyping (both digital and paper based) with other game designers and programmers.
  • Work closely and support the Intermediate Designers in their field and other designers on feature development progress.
  • Document work in a clear and concise way. Keep documentation updated.
  • Work collaboratively with all designers and ask insightful questions about their work.
  • Work collaboratively with the Production Team when asked and provide all work requested.
  • Participate in the selection of team members in the broad design team.
  • Communicate progress on responsible work, raise issues and deliver work in a timely manner to their Lead and Production teams.
  • Contribute to a work environment that is motivating for team members and which fosters development and creation.
  • Attend playtests and be solution-oriented to the problems encountered.
  • Communicate with the Lead Designer and design leadership related to team morale, project deliverables and design team work quality.

Requirements:

  • Experience with Unreal Engine 4 or similar proprietary level editors. 
  • 5+ years of experience in Level Design with at least 2 shipped titles.
  • Comfortable working in game editors and understanding engine/game constraints and opportunities.
  • Enthusiasm and desire to work in the game development industry.
  • Ability and desire to work in creative and collaborative teams.
  • Proficiency in basic software such as word processing, spreadsheets, etc.
  • Excellent knowledge of level editing tools.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent knowledge and strong passion for video games.
  • Ability to manage his/her own time and work within tight deadlines.
  • Self-motivated team player.
  • Strong, current portfolio with samples of your work is required for consideration.

Pluses:

  • Hands-on experience shipping Unreal Engine titles on PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
  • Blueprint Scripting.
  • Experience developing virtual reality games or simulations.
  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Game Design.
  • Knowledge of Agile Methodology, JIRA, and Perforce.
